Przy ulicy Niepodleg\u0142o\u015bci, tu\u017c obok kamienia 700-letniej I\u0142awy,<\/strong> znajduje si\u0119 budynek Ratusza Miejskiego<\/strong>. W\u00a01706\u00a0r. sp\u0142on\u0105\u0142 w\u0142a\u015bciwy ratusz<\/strong>, kt\u00f3ry znajdowa\u0142 si\u0119 w centralnej cz\u0119\u015bci dzisiejszego Starego Miasta i nigdy nie zosta\u0142 odbudowany w miejscu pierwotnej lokalizacji.<\/p>\n

Wsp\u00f3\u0142czesny budynek ratusza powsta\u0142 w okresie 1910-1912r. ju\u017c poza obszarem star\u00f3wki, ale przy g\u0142\u00f3wnej ulicy miasta \u2013 Kaiserstrasse (ulica Cesarska). Bry\u0142a budynku sk\u0142ada si\u0119 z kilku cz\u0119\u015bci. Jednym z\u00a0ciekawszych element\u00f3w cz\u0119\u015bci g\u0142\u00f3wnej s\u0105\u00a0schody zewn\u0119trzne po\u00a0obu stronach drzwi wej\u015bciowych o\u00a0charakterze reprezentacyjnym<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Przed budynkiem znajduje si\u0119 dziedziniec, si\u0119gaj\u0105cy wsp\u00f3\u0142cze\u015bnie samej ulicy. Ratusz jest najbardziej reprezentacyjnym budynkiem miasta i przez wiele lat nazywany by\u0142 per\u0142\u0105 Prus Wschodnich<\/strong>.
